This beginner tutorial will teach you the basics of how to use Google Keyword Planner, a powerful free keyword research tool.
Google Keyword Planner is free to use, but you will need a Google account to sign in. Click here to set one up if you don’t have one yet.
To get started, click here and then click “Go to Keyword Planner.”
If you do not have Google Ads setup, follow the step-by-step guide below to setup your account and get access to this free tool:
When you see the prompt below asking “What’s your main advertising goal” click the small “Experienced with Google Ads?” link instead.
On the next screen, hit the “Create an account without a campaign” link.
Hit the “Submit” button on the next page.
You should then see this screen, and from here click on Explore Your Account.
Next, click the “Tools” link on the menu bar and hit “Switch to expert mode.”
Finally, hit the “Tools” link on the menu again, and you should see a link to the Keyword Planner.
You now have access! No need to enter billing info or run an ad.
